Jarðfeingi holds the museum function for the Faroe Islands within earth sciences. This implies that Jarðfeingi collects, conserves, researches and exhibits geological objects from the Faroese nature. The institution shares exhibition halls with the Faroese Museum of Natural History.
Teaching
Scientists from Jarðfeingi teach general geology and petroleum geology at the University of the Faroe Islands.
